| LB Broths are tested and approved for use in molecular biology applications such as plasmid DNA production, M13 isolation, etc... Products containing antibiotics are tested with both sensitive and resistant E.coli strains to demonstrate the biological efficacy of the antibiotics. Carbenicillin, an analog of ampicillin is more stable than ampicillin and is recommended when E.coli strains harboring plasmids such as the pUC series, pBluescript, pGem, etc...are used. Studies demonstrate increased temperature stability and fewer satellite colonies when using carbenicillin. |

| For many, Terrific Broth is the
liquid media of choice for plasmid preps. While cells grown in Terrific
Broth grow slower than in LB the final cell density and plasmid yields are
2-4 fold higher. It is recommended that cells grown in TB are allowed to
grow for 24 hours to achieve high densities. |
