1M Sodium Hydroxide is a standardized aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide at 1 mol/L concentration for routine laboratory use. It is used for pH adjustment in chemical and biochemical workflows, acid neutralization, base titrations, preparation of alkaline buffers, and as a reagent in nucleic acid and protein protocols that require strongly basic conditions.

Applications include preparation of media and reagents requiring controlled alkalinity, regeneration of weakly acidic ion-exchange resins, precipitation or dissolution steps sensitive to pH, and cleaning or deprotonation procedures compatible with glass and many laboratory plastics. Store tightly closed to minimize atmospheric CO₂ uptake and resultant carbonate formation. GMP manufactured.

  • pH Adjustment of Buffers and Media: Aseptically titrates buffers and cell culture media to target pH using 1M Sodium Hydroxide.

  • Neutralization and Back-Titration: Neutralizes acidic samples and performs precise pH corrections in assay preparation.

  • Chromatography Resin Regeneration: Regenerates and sanitizes anion-exchange and other chromatography resins between runs.

  • Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) and Sanitization: Cleans and sanitizes bioprocess equipment, tubing, and systems; effective against endotoxins and biofilms.

  • Plasmid DNA Alkaline Lysis: Serves as the alkaline component for plasmid isolation workflows.

  • Nucleic Acid Denaturation: Denatures DNA/RNA for blotting and hybridization procedures.

  • Protein Sample Preparation: Adjusts pH for protein solubilization, precipitation, and enzymatic inactivation steps.

  • Microbial Decontamination: Decontaminates surfaces and liquid waste; used (after dilution) in specimen processing for Mycobacterium culture.
