2XYT (Yeast extract Tryptone) Agar with 2% Glucose and Carbenicillin-100 is a nutrient-rich agar medium that supports the growth and selection of carbenicillin-resistant E. coli strains. The addition of 2% glucose enhances metabolic activity and biomass yield, and 100 µg/mL carbenicillin disodium salt enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.6% Tryptone
  • 1.0% Yeast Extract
  • 0.5% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 2.0% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • 100µg/mL Carbenicillin Disodium Salt

  • Antibiotic Selection of Transformants: Isolation of carbenicillin-resistant Escherichia coli colonies carrying bla-encoded plasmids.

  • Colony Isolation and Maintenance: Streaking and passaging of recombinant Escherichia coli strains on rich, selective agar.

  • CFU Enumeration and Efficiency Testing: Quantifying transformation efficiency on carbenicillin-selective plates.
