Acetic acid, Endotoxin Tested, is an aqueous laboratory reagent used for pH adjustment of buffers, media, and reagents; acidification steps in chromatographic workflows; mobile phase modification in LC methods; and protocols involving nucleic acids and proteins. It is commonly employed for media pH shifts in microbial culture experiments with organisms such as E. coli, for resin regeneration in ion-exchange procedures, and for general titration and sample preparation tasks.

Each lot is evaluated for bacterial endotoxins using a limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) assay. Store tightly closed to limit evaporation and contamination. Corrosive; handle with appropriate laboratory personal protective equipment and follow institutional chemical safety guidelines.

  • 1M Acetic Acid
  • Buffer Preparation and pH Adjustment: Used to prepare acetate buffers and adjust pH in molecular biology and biochemistry workflows using 1M Acetic Acid.

  • Agarose Gel Electrophoresis: Component of Tris–acetate–EDTA (TAE) running buffer for DNA separation, providing stable pH and conductivity.

  • Protein Staining/Destaining: Included in Coomassie staining and destaining solutions to fix and visualize proteins in SDS-PAGE and native PAGE gels.

  • Gel and Cell Fixation: Used with methanol in fixatives to immobilize proteins in gels and to fix cells or tissues for downstream analysis.

  • Chromatography: Employed as a mobile phase modifier or pH control agent in ion-exchange and reverse-phase HPLC/LC workflows.

  • Enzyme Assays and qPCR: Utilized to fine-tune reaction pH, supporting optimal enzyme activity and reproducible kinetics.
