Chamberlain’s Medium Dry Premix is a chemically defined dry blend formulated according to Chamberlain (1965) for preparing a defined medium suitable for the cultivation of fastidious Neisseria species. When prepared as directed, the medium supports growth of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis under defined nutrient conditions, enabling studies of nutritional requirements, physiology, and susceptibility testing in a controlled, reproducible environment. The premix contains the balanced inorganic salts, amino acids, and vitamins specified for Chamberlain’s defined medium and may be used as a base for additional defined supplements as required.

  • Cultivation of Neisseria: Supports growth of fastidious species such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis under defined conditions.
